D51 Board of Education Extends Superintendent Contract

Grand Junction, CO - The District 51 School Board of Education unanimously voted to extend the contract of Superintendent Dr. Brian Hill for an additional five years, through June 2030. Dr. Hill assumed the role of District 51 Superintendent in 2022.


At the Board of Education Work Session held on Tuesday evening, the Board of Education acknowledged the exceptional service and dedication of Dr. Hill in leading the district toward its educational goals and believes it is in the best interest of the District to maintain stability and continuity at the leadership level.

 

“The Board of Education recognizes the unwavering commitment, visionary leadership, and transformative impact of Superintendent Dr. Hill,” said Board of Education President Andrea Haitz. “Extending his employment contract is not just a decision but a declaration of confidence in a future defined by excellence, innovation, and continued educational success for our community.”

 

Dr. Hill expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue serving District 51. "I am grateful to the Board of Education for entrusting me with the responsibility of continuing to serve our community in D51 and Mesa County. Despite the challenges we have faced as a district, I am proud of the work we have accomplished, and I am committed to serving our district as we continue to work through these challenges for a better D51. We have great students, staff, families, and community partners, and I thank them for allowing me the honor and duty of leading our district into the future." 

 

With this contract extension, the District looks forward to continued progress and success towards our D51 Strategic Plan goals under Dr. Hill's leadership.
