Dr. Sirko

It’s hard to believe that we are already so close to the end of summer break. As always, I am excited for the beginning of the year and the chance to welcome each of you back to school! A quick reminder: all D51 kindergarten students, as well as Summit School Program and our eight middle schools, will start classes on Aug. 11. All other D51 schools will start on Aug. 9.

School Registration

If you have not yet registered or confirmed your child’s enrollment (if they are staying in the same school as last year), please do so on ParentVUE. The process to confirm enrollment does not require any in-person paperwork. However, if you are registering at a new school, please bring the following documents to your school office after filling out online paperwork. All school offices are now open.

  • Your child’s birth certificate

  • Your child’s immunization records

  • Your ID

  • Proof of address, such as a utility bill sent to your house with your name on it

Director of Equity and Inclusion

I am proud to announce that we have hired Tracy Gallegos to serve as our next Director of Equity and Inclusion. Tracy worked as an assistant principal at West Middle School from 2008 to 2017 and has served as our Migrant Education Program Regional Director for the past four years. Tracy’s qualifications and experience include serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Colorado Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents, representing the state of COlorado on the Interstate Migrant Education Council, president of the Western Colorado Migrant & Rural Coalition, and having a Bachelor’s in Spanish from UNC and completing graduate studies at Denver University.

Free School Meals

School meals will be provided free of charge to all D51 students again this school year. You can read more about the USDA’s announcement here. If you qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, you should still apply for free or reduced-price meals here. In addition to helping determine school funding, your free/reduced application can qualify you for free or reduced student and sports fees, among other benefits.
