Grand Junction, CO - After initially receiving approval, we will not be able to move into Stage 3 Summer Athletics and Activities Guidelines on Monday, July 20. After speaking with Mesa County Public Health today, we will instead be moving into Stage 1B Guidelines, can be found here. This change is due to the governor's executive order, effective today, which requires mask-wearing in all public spaces. You can read the executive order here.
Stage 1B Guidelines are similar to the Stage 1 Guidelines implemented earlier this summer, allowing students to use weight rooms and take off their masks while using weight equipment, though they will need to wear masks while entering, exiting, and moving from station to station indoors. Gym access is not permitted. Masks are not required for outdoor activities as long as social distancing can be maintained, and balls and other equipment can be used and will require sanitation.
