DIA celebration

Grand Junction, CO – Dual Immersion Academy, Grand Junction’s only fully bilingual school with education in both English and Spanish, will begin registration for the Kindergarten Lottery on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018.

Unlike traditional school options, Dual Immersion enrolls students from across the Grand Valley instead of one geographic area. Parents who are interested in having their children start the program as a kindergarten student can pre-register during the first full week of February. Names or pre-registered students are then drawn in a lottery in March, determining who can enroll.

Parents who are interested in starting their children in kindergarten at Dual Immersion this coming fall can pre-register from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, through Thursday, Feb. 8, in the school’s main office. Signing up early will not offer a student any advantage in the lottery drawing, so there is no rush to sign up early on Feb. 5. Parents who register for the Kindergarten Lottery also have to attend two mandatory meetings:

  • Friday, March 2, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Dual Immersion Academy
  • Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Bookcliff Middle School

The lottery drawing will take place Friday, March 9. Parents will be notified by mail whether their children were accepted for enrollment or placed on the wait list. Parents whose children do not get in to DIA through the Kindergarten Lottery but still wish to register for first- through fifth-grade at Dual Immersion must call the office each year to be placed on or remain on the wait list until a spot opens.
