Grand Junction, CO - To help fill the child hunger gap over Winter Break, School District 51 will be handing out four-day holiday meal packs before the break. The meal packs will include enough food for four days of breakfast and lunch and are available free for anyone in Mesa County age 18 or younger. 


Meal packs will be available for pickup Friday, Dec. 18. Anyone can pick up a meal pack for a Mesa County child or children between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at R-5 High School, 455 N. 22nd St. There is also convenient meal pack pickup in the designated student curbside pickup area at the following schools on Friday:

Any Mesa County parent or guardian can pick up a meal pack - students do not need to be present. Each four-day breakfast pack will include cereal, pre-packaged pancakes and french toast, a granola bar, and juice. Each four-day lunch pack will include four entrees (grilled cheese, pre-packaged pizza, corn dog, and Lunchable), three tangerines, two potatoes, two bags of carrots, and an applesauce cup. Students will also receive a half gallon of Meadow Gold milk. Meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
