Facebook Live Q&A canceled

cancelledGrand Junction, CO - A Facebook Live Q&A that had been scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, has been canceled in light of a district-wide school closure.

The focus of the Q&A would have been suggesting next steps following the defeat of Ballot Measure 4A and having a panel of District 51 experts answer questions about school construction, maintenance, safety, and funding, with a particular focus on options for potentially funding a new Grand Junction High School and safety improvements at Central, Palisade, and Fruita Monument high schools.

All schools in District 51 are closed Nov. 21-22 due to increased student and staff absenteeism at several schools associated with an illness believed to be norovirus. While administrative offices will remain open for the rest of the week, the decision was made to cancel Thursday's Q&A so that families, staff, and community members can focus on being well and to ensure that all those who wanted to participate but cannot due to illness will not miss out.

The topics of school funding, safety and construction remain important, and the Q&A may be rescheduled for a later date, if time and schedules allow. In the meantime, please check bit.ly/d51bond and bit.ly/d51mill for information about 2017 Bond Measure spending and check d51schools.org for financial transparency information.
