Grand Junction, CO On Monday, Oct. 7, at the CSU Research Center, 3168 B 1/2 Road, Chatfield Elementary School students harvested the fruits and veggies they planted as seeds and took some back to the school for students to enjoy.

The visit started with butternut squash harvesting from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., then tomato harvesting from 11:20 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The day concluded with group work in the teaching kitchen and the forested part of the land from 12:15 p.m. to 1:20 p.m.

The harvested squash will be donated to a food bank, and the students took the tomatoes into the teaching kitchen to wash for tastings and to send back with the group to be served in the Chatfield cafeteria.
